15th anniversary of Women, Peace and Security resolution 1325

It was in October 2000, that resolution 1325 was adopted. It drew attention to the impact of conflict on women and their exclusion from peacekeeping and prevention roles. The last 15 years have shown how vital women are to promoting sustainable peace, but still women make up a small proportion of negotiators at peace tables.

Although a large amount of progress has been made, over these past 15 years, in highlighting the importance of women in creating a wholly peaceful society there is still much to be done to ensure resolution 1325 is successful.
