The Judith Trust, established in 1997, focuses on the problems faced by people who have both a learning disability and mental ill-health. On 5 March 2013, Serene Communications assisted with the organisation of an event held by the Judith Trust entitled Hate Crime violence against women and girls with disabilities: gendered people, gendered acts. The event was able to welcome Annette Lawson, to chair the event as the Chair of the Trust.
The key issue was violence against women with disabilities and constituted one of the parallel events held at CSW 57. Speakers included Dr Wendi Momen from EBBF who spoke of the role of business in preventing violence in the work place, and Alex Rees from the NAWO youth caucus together with other activists and experts.
It was a privilege to work alongside such a noble cause and assist in efforts to remove the great injustices facing women across the world. We wish the Judith Trust great success in its efforts to aid those facing the hardest of challenges.
